2021.12.02 07:43 dzol0 Are serbian people really so nacionalist?

As I'm going on a half a year trip to Balkans in 2022, recently I've been reading a lot about history of each country, the region as a whole and current politics/news.
What hit me so so much is what is going on now with Serbia's foreign politics (with Vucic as a face of it) and on the other hand Republika Srpska's president Milorad Dodik secession threats.
So basically, what I'm thinking about is why people like them (I mean Dodik and Vucic) are in power in those two beautiful states? Are people in Serbia and Republika Srpska so nacionalistic nowadays to vote on such a bastards?
From my perspective these two are directly heading towards next conflict in the region in the name of the past, which is really sad as I consider Balkan states as full of nice, warm and helpful people and It's always a pleasure of visiting you guys (I've already been to BiH, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece and Albania - loved all of these so much!!!).
I'm really hoping the danger of war will not escalate anymore. So, what do you guys think?
Much love from Poland!

2021.12.02 07:43 cipricusss Playing track color in default user interface

Columns UI has more obvious options for that (I have seen a lot of CUI skins which show the feature), but in DUI that setting is more obscure. I have found a solution at some point and posted on superuser, but I hope to make that more popular, because I consider the DUI — where colored playing track seems absent — as the best way to take advantage of most of Foobbar's qualities.

2021.12.02 07:43 cheekylilmonkey He’s changed for the better and it’s all because of you. Thank you

He comes home humming after he’s spent time with you. He listens to songs about love and doesn’t roll his eyes anymore. He’s putting in effort to be kinder to himself. He’s opening up about himself, sharing his poems, talking about his past and inner-most thoughts; he never did that before you got here. He has a new found motivation to get out of bed, even when he doesn’t have anything specific to do. He’s bought new clothes, he styles his hair and trims his beard, he takes extra special care of his appearance. He likes himself again. It’s all because of you. Thank you for making him whole again. I hope he makes you as happy as you make him.

2021.12.02 07:43 theSeacopath Peronal Diary of Dr. Alexei Markov - Entry 7: Special Delivery

Wake up, Markov! Hey! Wake the fuck up!” A voice broke me out of sleep, and I shot upright, when my head collided with a gas mask. Pain exploded through my face, and I heard someone go sprawling across the floor. I groaned and rolled over, holding my head. Nearby, Vadim struggled to his feet, holding his own head. “Good god, Markov, you don’t need that hemet; your noggin’s hard enough that it could stop a bullet all by itself!” Feeling sick, I forced myself upright and activated the medical kit on my Nosorog’s ribs. “What the fuck happened?” I asked, stabbing my forearm onto an extended needle; the electronic device beeped and flashed green, depositing the contents of a stimpack into my bloodstream. “Did we have another Emission?”
“No, but you were really fucked up,” Vadim replied worriedly. “I couldn’t wake you up for hours, and you were thrashing around like something out of the fucking Exorcist.” Vadim passed me my Desert Eagle. “I had to take this off you because you somehow got the safety off and fired it in your sleep!” Shakily, I took the pistol back from my companion. “I have no Idea what happened either. You were gone, and there was something standing in the middle of the pylons.” “A person?” “No,” I replied. “Last I checked, people aren’t capable of creating a telekinetic lightning storm or teleporting faster than gunshots.”
“Yob tvoyu matj,” Vadim breathed. “We should get out of here; dream or not, that doesn’t sound like something I’d want to fight.” “Are you healed up?” I closed the medical kit and stepped around behind my Exo. Vadim nodded. “I’m good; thankfully that wasn’t my recoil shoulder.” “All right,” I replied. “I have one thing to do first, and then we can get moving.” I activated my Nosorog. The Exoskeleton opened up and I stepped inside; the mechanical limbs closed around me and the motors unlocked. I stepped forward and watched the diagnostics running on the arm-mounted screen. Punching forward, the Nosorog accelerated my motions with a noise of high-pressure pneumatics. Vadim watched me run through my checks, looking a little envious. I smirked. “We should get you one of these.”
Vadim scoffed. “Bratukha, I’ll probably barely make enough Roubles in my entire lifetime to afford just the arm of one of those things.” “Well, that’s just being pessimistic,” I replied, picking up my helmet. “Since we’re involved in something to do with Strelok, we’ll be going up against some seriously tough competition. You might get your hands on an Exo sooner than you think, and it may even be free.” “Damn. Well, I’ll keep my eyes out, I guess,” Vadim shrugged. I put on my helmet and watched my head-up display come to life. Opening my PDA, I typed a message. I need a package delivered Post-Haste. Zaton, Iron Forest. Vadim looked at his own PDA as the message came through on the Zone-wide S.T.A.L.K.E.R. channel. “What’s that for?” “You’ll see.”
A minute later, a man appeared over the horizon in my binoculars, coming from the south. Barely three seconds after I first saw him, the man screeched to a stop in a cloud of dust and dirt in front of Vadim and I; the man wore a Kevlar vest, a motorcycle helmet, and metal boots that glowed red with heat.“Morning, Markov,” the man smiled under his helmet. “What do you have for me today?” I shook the man’s hand. “Punctual as always, Haste. I have an artifact in an application module for Professor Sakharov. My friend and I were planning on making a stop through Yantar before our destination, but we can’t really spare the time any more.” “No problemo,” Haste nodded, accepting the Artifact Application Module. “Modules are great; like having a pizza delivered in a thermal bag.” I laughed. “If you ever get out of the Zone for good, you’d run every delivery boy in Ukraine out of business.” Haste waved a hand. “Nah, it’s much more fun here. There’s no speed limit, and if customers give you any shit, you can just shoot them.” Haste always spoke very fast, manic, pent-up energy evident in his every move.
“Okay, I’m lost,” Vadim spoke up. “Who’s this guy?” I turned to Vadim. “This is Haste; he’s the Zone’s postman. Haste, this is my comrade, Vadim Greek. Duty.” “The Zone has a mailman?” Vadim looked shocked. Haste smirked. "Who do you think brings in the Playboy shipments every month?” Vadim paused, before a wide grin spread across his face. “You’re a godsend, man.” Haste made a lightning-fast Japanese bow. “Someone’s gotta look out for the boys.” A PDA beep drew our attention; Haste pulled out his PDA and checked the message. “Speaking of which, I have my next job. I’ll get the artifact to Yantar, no sweat.” “Watch out,” I cautioned the postman. “There’s apparently a new military supervisor at Yantar; I wouldn’t advise going in there full throttle. These military dogs don’t take kindly to people using the Zone for any benefit other than their own.”
Haste nodded. “Duly noted; I’ll take it slow. See you boys around.” With that, Haste saluted, turned on his heel, and took off with a noise like thunder, leaving a trail of scorched dirt in his wake. Vadim stared after him, gobsmacked. “Crispy Jesus, what the hell was that?!” “Let’s roll; I’ll tell you on the way.” Vadim and I left the Iron Forest, following Haste’s still-warm trail. Before we left, I had carefully examined the area where my mystery dream visitor was, but found nothing. In spite of this, I was still on alert as we approached a bridge to cross into the Jupiter region. A group of Loners were crossing the bridge too, and we exchanged simple greetings before passing each other on our way.
Jupiter spread out ahead of us; a sprawling land of abandoned buildings and vehicles, dominated in the southeast by the massive processing plant. Vadim took a long look at the scenery. “Times like these, I wish vehicles still worked here.” “You can actually bring vehicles into the Zone from outside, but it’s really stupid,” I replied, scanning the horizon with my binoculars. Vadim perked up. “Can't be that stupid if people do it. Maybe I’ll ask Petrenko to requisition a motorcycle for me.” “No,” I snapped. “Read this shit.” I pulled out my notebook and passed it to Vadim.
Vadim took the notebook and began to read. “No. You do not get a motorcycle. Stop asking for a motorcycle. I don’t give a damn how cool it looks. Using a motorcycle in the Zone is the equivalent of hanging a bell around your neck and wearing a neon sign on your chest saying “Shoot Here.” Even if you find fuel for your mobile dinner bell, you’re going to spend more time fighting off stalkers who want your bike than you’ll spend actually riding the damn thing. There was ONE guy who jumped the fence into the Zone on a motorcycle, and to be fair he made it in, but then ran into the ass end of a Pseudogiant I was fighting off at the time. That was less of a stupid death and more just dumb luck. I got away though, so it all worked out. Aw, man, really?”
I nodded. “If you want a unique piece of gear, make sure it’s easy to defend, and it doesn’t make you too much of a target. Motorcycles have neither of those qualities.” “This coming from the egghead in a custom walking tank,” Vadim snarked. I shrugged. “Unless you know what to look for, my Nosorog doesn’t look much more advanced than a regular Exo, besides the mounted Barrett. It’d also take a hell of a lot of firepower to bring me down when I’m wearing this, and even then, the only way it’s coming off my body without my permission is if my corpse is cut out of it.” “Speaking of unique gear,” Vadim continued after a second. “What’s the deal with Mister Postman? I’ve never seen a human move that fast before. Is he even human?”
“He is,” I replied. “Haste is without a doubt, the fastest man on the planet. He carries an artifact with him; one of the unique ones that turns people into demigods. This artifact gives Haste an unbelievably fast metabolism, reflexes and speed.” Vadim chuckled. “That explains the motorcycle helmet. Imagine hitting a tree branch at…” Vadim paused. “How fast do you think he actually is?” I answered Vadim’s question instantly. “Haste has a good relationship with the Ecologists; he’s the best way to get scientific equipment delivered in the field to us in emergencies. Professor Sakharov ran a study on him, and we clocked Haste’s top running speed at 786 kilometers an hour.” “Blyadj; that’s like superman.” Vadim whistled. I chuckled. “Not faster than a speeding bullet, but certainly faster than anything else in the Zone.”
Suddenly, our radios crackled and a transmission began playing. Only a few words were audible, the rest was a garbled mess of snippets of voices and electronic beeping. Vadim pointed to his PDA. “Can you hear that too?” “Sounds like a Military transmission,” I replied. “We’re probably only getting it since we’re still so close to the Iron Forest.” Just then, as if to spite me, a few words came through clearly on the radio. This-...-War Eagle Forty-..., requ-…-ting immedi-...-port foll-...-crash-...-uthwest of-...-obyl Nuclear Po-...-ant.“ That’s definitely Military,” I nodded. “War Eagle'' is code for a UAV. The soldiers must have tried to send one over the Zone, but it obviously flew straight through an anomaly. What a waste of good gear.” “Want to check it out?” Vadim offered. “If it’s a waste of good gear, we might be able to find some good gear still there; maybe some rockets we can sell back to the soldiers for a profit.” “Bad idea. You feel like carrying drone rockets all the way back to Rostok?” I snickered. My friend shrugged. “If I can get paid, sure.”
Bad idea,” I repeated. “Drone rockets weigh a ton, and in my opinion, running through the most dangerous environment on the planet with a high-explosive rocket strapped to your back sounds like a good way to make it into my notebook.” “Fair point,” Vadim nodded thoughtfully. “If I ended up as an entry in there, I’d definitely be proof that I'm too stupid to live.” “Yep,” I nodded sagely. “I would have called it The Big Book of Darwin Awards, but the other title sounds catchier.” “Maybe for a sequel?” I laughed heartily and gave Vadim a fistbump.
An hour of walking later, Vadim and I arrived at the Volkhov Anti-Air Complex. The small, fenced-in area used to belong to the Military, but relentless hammering of the area by Emissions had driven all the soldiers off. Occasionally, the Army dogs would try to take the complex back, but by the next Emission, most of them would get Zombified, creating a rather bothersome and persistent infestation. I flicked the safeties off my SCAR and my Barrett, and nudged my comrade. “Welcome to Zombieville. You feel like blowing off some steam?” “I’d say so.” Vadim’s answering grin was just a tad feral.
I activated my Barrett’s frame; the massive sniper rifle lowered into position and my Exo’s leg motors locked. Lining up a zombie in my sights, watching it slowly lurch through my scope, I fired. The .50 BMG round blinked across the concrete ahead of me, and blew through the helpless zombie, leaving nothing but a pair of legs that slowly toppled over into the bloody mess now on the ground. The booming report of the sniper rifle drew the attention of every dead-head in the complex. Slowly, heads started turning towards Vadim and I, milky-white eyes glimmering dully with hunger. Almost in unison, the crowd of zombies in the AA complex turned and marched towards us.
I fired my rifle again; a line of zombies in the crowd exploded into chunks as the high-velocity round tore through them with a noise like thunder. Vadim charged into the fray, blasting his Saiga at anything that shambled. When his magazine ran dry ten zombies later, he grabbed a fresh clip and jammed it into the gun’s body. Just then, I whipped up my SCAR-H and put a round between the dead eyes of a Zombie that had lurched up behind Vadim; the corpse’s head exploded and the body hit the floor like a sack of rotten potatoes. My Barrett fired again, and two more zombies turned into red paste; I unlocked the Nosorog’s legs and charged in after Vadim.
Up ahead, the Duty trooper was having a grand old time; every blast of his shotgun claimed yet another undead. I dropped two more zombies before pulling the trigger of my M203 launcher; the resulting explosion sent putrid zombie parts flying like gruesome confetti. “Kiss my ass, you brain-dead freaks!” I heard Vadim shout from somewhere beside me, followed by more buckshot blasting. Sliding a fresh magazine into my SCAR, I whirled around to see another zombie wearing an Egghead’s plastic suit. “Sorry about this, comrade,” I smirked, “But you’re a puppet of the Zone and I want to watch your head explode.” Just then, the zombie lurched forward, I caught a glimpse of the rotting face underneath the cracked opaque visor, and my stomach dropped. “Sergey?” I gasped.
Sergey made a noise I’d never heard come out of any human before, and charged at me, still making that awful screeching. I took a step back and raised my SCAR, but without warning, the zombie’s head exploded as Vadim fired his Saiga right next to me. I jumped in shock, and took a look around the area. I was standing perfectly still in the middle of a field of very much dead zombies. Vadim tapped me on the shoulder. “Chuvak; what was that? Are you okay?” “Yeah,” I replied slowly, looking down at the zombie’s ruined face. “I used to know that zombie; he was my friend Sergey Parakov. He was a good S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” “I hate to be preachy, but this is why Duty fights,” Vadim replied, crossing himself over the ex-zombie. “So that shit like this never sees the light in the rest of the world.” “Good philosophy, my friend,” I replied, watching my Barrett fold up and slot back to position on my back. “Okay, let’s go through some pockets. Maybe one of these fuckers had a chocolate bar.”
