Yeah there are lot of health benefits of working out and you may already know that or heard about that. To which I'll get back in a moment. But here I want to speak of some the lesser known benefits of going to the gym apart from health benefits. So my request is hear me out this one is for you.

[ basically why you'll relate to this (maybe) and understand. So I'm an engineering student (M) in uni and an average guy (23 BMI, kinda skinny tbh), grinds in class, hangout with my friends after (I don't make friends that easy, I'm kinda introverted). So most of my days in uni has been like going to uni, catching up on Netflix, gaming, pursuing my hobbies. I spent the entire weekend going out for drinks with the boys to bars and stuff or just going out for dinners or activities/drives. So basically kinda normal happy time. Since last couple of months one thought has been going through my mind relentlessly, that I'm growing older but not wiser Full disclosure apart from university, I've taken courses outside of my curriculum that add to my CV, member of a technical committee, scoring 3+ GPA each semester out of 4, yet I felt anxious. So I listened to all my anxious thoughts by writing em down and decided to do what I do best is research the shit out of how I can improve upon my current scenario. ]
So I decided to go to the Gym, baby steps and here's why u should as well.

  1. Superior thought process
Working out daily has given me an arguably a clearer way of looking at things, I'm not a writer so I'll try to articulate my point in the best way I can. I've become more calm than I've been ever before. My critical thinking has greatly improved, before majority of my thoughts were self-deprecating, but know I have a clear vision like the smoke screen has cleared out. I see through what really is a problem(anxious thoughts) what isn't and how to work on them. Lot more Humble and my goofy side has returned who smiles/laughs at ridiculous things, in other words I feel like my old self again (yup I broke up recently so this may be a bit of a stretch but bare with me)
  1. The Power of fresh Air
You may have heard people offer vague advice, " You should go out for a walk, maybe just for a little while, or just out of your living space " Previously all my life I've been denying / claiming that it's all hukum and it really doesn't affect you whatsoever. In the process of going to the gym you tend to wash up, get a change of clothes, going out with a goal in mind, trust me on this one, this has an enormous impact on your mental and physical well-being. Going out is an elite form of mood booster and overall makes it all very satisfying at the end of the day and you develop will power to deal with whatever challenges you're facing, courage to take em on face to face. I am the kind of person who looks for petty reasons to cancel plans with my friends just to chill by myself at home doing nothing in particular, so long story short with my lectures being online and cancelling plans I spent quite the time at home. But now I go to the gym every day. I drive, I just enjoy driving my motorcycle so often take the long way to my gym, listening to music cruising downtown. It's like drinking coffee next to a borne fire on a Christmas Eve. Even if you don't like doing this just for once try rolling down your window, listen to a happy song relax yourself and cherish the moment, it sounds lame but the same street you've walked/driven past feels new and exciting.
  1. Developing new hobbies along this journey
Yeah how will this happen right? You'll be surprised with the chain reaction that occurs so listen up fam. There's a library across the street from where I live and it's been there for more than a decade and I've walked past it almost everyday since the opening day. Everyday, on my way to the gym, I drive past the same library, subconsciously adding it as a point of interest in my mind, With the influence of the new attitude towards the same ol world, I made a decision to go to that library and borrowed couple books. in the past months I have transformed from a person who's never read a novel in his life to reading 2-4 books a week. Let me tell you reading upgrades your life it's like a software update for your brain, just like your phone after updating, you also become more smarter, efficient and intellectual. For me it's been reading books, going through Feynman lectures. Few self help books highly recommended for beginners, 1. Rich dad poor dad 2. The Alchemist, 3. 48 laws of power 4. Psychology of money, 5. Zero to one.
  1. Meeting new people or your significant other
Gym is one of the best places to meet people, make new friends or even more than that if you find that spark. Mostly because majority of the people there are on the journey of self improvement just like you and me, so it's relatively easy to find a connection or perhaps common grounds for friendship, if not that, you always have a workout buddy. There are a lot of men and women, so irrespective, you're a girl or a guy, you will meet new people, have new SAFE area to bond/know new people. A personal observation, all the people at the gym are lot more " well mannered? shall I say?" than an average person you'd meet any where else, it's just my observation might vary everywhere, so long story short a safe place to meet new people.
  1. Your safe place
Speaking of safe place to meet people, it also becomes your safe place to process events that occur in your life. Having relationship dilemma? Stressed out? Family problem, fallout with a fam membeclose friend? Bad day at work? Just need a break? Or just need time to think? Hit the gym. Our brain has tendencies to identify places/environment as safe or unsafe. Let's say you had a bad experience at a certain place and even though it was many years ago and it's been resolved re visiting that same place gives you an uneasy feeling? That's because your brain has identified and marked that place as unsafe. The gym eventually becomes that safe place to deal with your problems. In days like these, you can hit the treadmill if not feeling upto it, it boosts your mood if not solve but it sure does give you the courage to face it the next day.
  1. Mental health
Working out or visiting a safe place reduces your stress and anxiety levels significantly. Studies have shown that when you workout you have lower levels of anxiety and stress. Your brain produces serotonin/Dopamine/oxytocin which in common term is a good mood hormone, it basically makes you feel better about yourself, gives you sense of accomplishment, in general a mood booster. State of happiness. Yup the studies are right I feel very happy and diverse than ever before. ( If there's wrong terminology here, do correct em).
  1. Efficient lifestyle
Way of living becomes more efficient, tendency to get more done with significantly less effort, have a greater stamina for all sorts of task for extended hours, reduced fatigue, positive approach to problems. In general superior stamina. Improvements in sleep cycle. Since the very first lockdown my sleep schedule was massively disturbed as I slept at midnight around 3 or 4 am and woke up in the afternoon, which made the remainder of my day stressful as I had to get a lot done in lesser time. Physical activities make you tired and you tend to sleep rather than indulge in pointless leisure activities which keep you up late at night. Another added bonus, feeling fresh after waking up, in my previous lifestyle I slept for 8 hours but still felt tired after waking up, well with changes that has now become an ancient dragon I don't recognise.
  1. Health benefits Body physique becomes aesthetically pleasing, you become stronger and healthy. I'm gonna skip this part as there are more informative blogs and posts that expand on this topic.
Depending on which part of the body you want to work on, workouts are divided in different categories: Chest, back, Arms and shoulders, legs, abs, strength training.
You can start of with lighter weights and work one part of your body a day. For beginners it's recommended you workout four days a week, two cardio day and one complete rest day.

So I rented a server from a serverhosting website to play with some friends on the new updtate. Im not limited in slots, the core has never showed more then 10% workload and the connection seems fine. I only have one problem. The RAM seems to run full really quick. We just started so we are generating a lot of chunks, but there were never more than 8 players on the server. Its causing really annoying block lag (you break the blocks and they come back). Everytime the RAM isnt at its max. The blocklag is gone. Now Im wondering what I should do, is it normal that you need that much ram for a vanilla server? Can I maybe optimize something?

I have been coding for a bit on my own and recently came across an old exercise called swapPairs. The goal is to swap the keys with the values in an object. It's pretty simple, but I'm stumped at the moment.

function swapPairs(obj) { let newObj = {}; for (const key in obj) { newObj[obj[key]] = value; } return newObj; } console.log(swapPairs({ a: 1, b: 2 })); //expected { 1: a, b: 2 } 
I know this works. Maybe just having a brain fart tonight, but I am having trouble visualizing what exactly is happening even going step by step by myself.
I don't quite understand what is happening here.
newObj[obj[key]] = value; 
My pseudocode:
  1. swapPairs is invoked and given the obj
  2. newObj is initialized and set to the value of an empty object
  3. For in loop begins
  4. We have key(which is a and b. obj is the passed in object )
  5. newObj takes obj[key] (which is 1 and 2) and reassigns(?) it all to key ???
  6. loop moves to next pair
  7. return newObj with swapped pairs
